The Bell Centre (Le Centre Bell)

The Bell Centre (Le Centre Bell) is Montreal’s premiere sports and entertainment complex. Located in downtown Montreal, the Bell Centre has a seating capacity of 21,273 and is considered to be the largest hockey arena in North America. It also happens to be the home of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team since 1996. It is considered as one of the busiest and most technologically advanced venues in North America.

Home of the Montreal Canadiens

Originally known as the Molson Centre, the venue was built in 1996. It was renamed to the Bell Centre in 2002. The complex was built to replace the legendary Montreal Forum, which had been built in 1924. The Bell Centre is heavily themed by the Montreal Canadiens. There are bronze statues of famous players as well as team photographs throughout the Bell Centre. Many retired Canadiens jerseys are hung from the rafters of the Bell Centre.

Events at the Bell Centre

Many arts and entertainment events are held at the Bell Centre. Over the years, it has become Montreal’s primary venue for major concerts and performances. The Bell Centre hosts everything from Celine Dion concerts to UFC events. Because of its central location, it is easily accessible by public transportation. It is also connected to Montreal’s Underground City.
