Westmount is a wealthy residential area where many of Montreal’s wealthy English residents live. The hills of Westmount feature some of Montreal’s most extravagant homes. Although it is located within the city of Montreal, Westmount is considered a city in itself. The city of Westmount has its own schools, public library and many parks, including Westmount Park.
Sherbrooke Street
Sherbrooke Street crosses most of Westmount. There are several commercial areas located on Sherbrooke Street, which happens to be Montreal’s second largest street. Westmount Park
At the corner of Sherbrooke street and Melville lies Westmount Park. This 1,141,002 sq. ft. (26.19 acres) park is where many of Westmount’s events and programs occur. Westmount park contains a soccer field, three baseball fields, a wading field, tennis courts, a large playground and lush greenery. The Westmount Arena, swimming pool and library are all connected to Westmount park.
Attractions in Westmount
Westmount’s most notable attraction is Westmount Square. Westmount Square’s shopping area features boutiques and art galleries along with health clinics. Another notable Westmount is Place Alexis Nihon which happens to be connected to the Westmount square through an underground tunnel.
