The Montreal Impact are Montreal’s professional soccer team. The Impact are part of the United Soccer League‘s First Division (second in North America to Major League Soccer). Over the last couple of years, they have emerged as one of the top teams in the USL division. They even captured the championship trophy in 2004. The Impact’s official colors are white and blue.
The Montreal Impact and The Saputo Stadium
The soccer season for the Montreal Impact is from early May until late September. All the home games for the Impact are played at the Saputo Stadium, which has been the home of the Impact since 2008. The Saputo Stadium is located right next to the Olympic Stadium and is walking distance from Montreal’s Viau Metro station. The ambiance in the Saputo stadium is quite festive and fun. Fans are usually standing and singing throughout the entire game. The Saputo Stadium seats 13,000 fans and thanks to further expansions, it will soon seat 20,000.
The Montreal Impact and the MLS
Over the years, the Montreal Impact have been gaining a steady legion of loyal fans. The Saputo Stadium even has a “Supporters Section” where true Impact fans go to cheer on their team. Although the Impact are currently in the USL, they will be joining North America’s top soccer league,The Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2012.
