Montreal’s Cours Mont-Royal was built in 1922 as the Mount Royal Hotel. It was home to a five star hotel which had 1,100 rooms. At the time, it was the largest hotel in the British Empire. The hotel had stunning chandeliers hanging from the ceilings and spiral staircases that separated the floors. The hotel was eventually closed and converted to the Cours Mont-Royal shopping center.
