The World Choral Festival also known as The Loto-Québec World Choral Festival (Le Mondial Choral Loto-Quebec) is the largest gathering of choirs and vocal ensembles in North America. This international choral singing festival is fuelled by the growing popularity of choral music, which happens to be a very popular activity in Quebec. Taking place mostly in the city of Laval, the festival has helped make Laval the Choral Music Capital of Canada.
Activities at The World Choral Festival
Happening since 2005, the World Choral Festival features many indoor and outdoor concerts, including some free concerts. These concerts feature thousands of choristers from all around the world, along with instrumentalists, orchestras and craftsmen. Many of the indoor activities feature vocal ensemble and choir competitions. There are also many activities available to the public.
Many Different Art Forms
Various art forms are presented at this festival. Along with choirs, the World Choral Festival features various hip-hop, pop and rock artists. You’ll find thousands of choir singers and musicians along with clowns and circus performers. The festival attracts over 500,000 spectators and close to 12,000 chorus singers, hundreds of artists, more than 300 performances choral societies.
